The 1970 Regate offered here belongs to the first generation of this model. Today, these collector's watches enjoy cult status.
Typical features are the steel case with a sunray dial, the brand and model name in the center and the striking race counter. The watch is optically and technically in very beautiful and technically perfect condition. In this great collector's condition, the first generation Aquastar Reate 4000N is hard to find.
The timer works perfectly. After pressing the countdown at 4 o'clock, the counter starts backwards from 60 to 0. After one minute, the first circle changes from red to silver. After 5 minutes all circles are silver and the regatta begins.
1964 became the first Aquastar Regate Yachttimer marketed. These steel watches produced by Aquastar have the brand name on the dial and a minute race countdown pusher specifically for sailing races. Today, these collector's watches enjoy cult status.
The founder Frédéric Robert was an experienced diver and based on his passion and expertise he developed diving and yacht watches under the brand name Aquastar. This was the first brand to develop the so-called Lollipop design and to patent the counting ring within the watch caliber.
An Aquastar was the only watch during the first historically deepest dive - the DeepSea Challenge to the Mariana Trench on January 23, 1960. The watches became particularly popular through the films of Jacques Cousteau and his team, who wore the diver's watches in their 1960s films.
