BRAND STORY
The Swiss watch manufacturer Baume & Mercier was founded in 1830 by the brothers Louis-Victor and Célestin Baume under the name "Frères Baume" in the Swiss Jura. In 1918 the company "Baume Frères" merged under the direction of William Baume with the Geneva watchmaker Paul Mercier, son of a tsarist officer - the birth of today's brand Baume & Mercier, Fabrication Genève. In 1919 Baume & Mercier received the Geneva Seal, the highest international award for exceptional achievements in watchmaking at the time.
In the Roaring Twenties, the company marketed some modern women's watch collections such as the famous “Marquise” and campaigned for the emancipation of women. The watch manufacturer continued to innovate - in 1973, Baume & Mercier presented the 'Riviera', one of the first sports watches in the world made of steel and a classic with a 12-sided bezel.
In the 60s Piaget held the majority of the shares, since 1988 the provider like Cartier belongs to the Richemont group. Today's model range is characterized by stylish, elegant watch series and, since 2015, sporty wristwatches through a partnership with the famous American racing car manufacturer Carroll Shelby International, the maker of the "Shelby Cobra".
In the “Things to know” section - the company logo has been made up of the Greek letter “PHI”, the symbol for the golden ratio and Leonardo da Vinci's theory of proportions since 1964.
