The offered chronograph Datora was first marketed in 1945 as a full calendar. This model was then modernized in design two decades later in 1967 with the introduction of a case with a synthesis of cushion and round shape. On the outer edge of the dial is a tachymeter scale to read speeds.
The Datora is in very nice condition and shows very little signs of wear. There are no deep scratches, dents or similar. Please use the high-resolution images for reference.
Technically, the chronograph works flawless.
Breitling was founded in Switzerland in 1884 by Léon Breitling and is now owned by British financial investor CVC Capital Partners.
Since the 1930s, the manufacturer has supplied on-board clocks and wristwatches specially developed for pilots with predominantly black dials and eye-catching luminous numerals to the Royal Air Force and, since the 1940s, to the US Army Air Force. The operating patterns and possible calculations made sense especially for pilots. Among other things, Willy Breitling introduced the second pusher as a stop mechanism for the chronograph from 1934, which still sets the standard in the watch industry today.
The models Chronomat and its further development Navigate from 1952 have complex bezels for special calculations by pilots such as fuel consumption, climb and descent rates and speeds. Also called a pilot's personal on-board instrument. With the Superocean Breitling marketed the first diving watch in 1958.
In 1979, Willy Breitling's name and trademark rights were transferred to the entrepreneur Ernest Schneider, who had been producing watches under the Sicura brand since the 1960s. The manufacturer specialized in multifunctional mechanical chronographs including integrated quartz functions, e.g. the Pilot's Watch Emergency with an emergency call transmitter especially for pilots.
Particular attention The first mechanical diver's watch, water-resistant to a depth of 3,000 meters in 2002, and the self-constructed chronograph movement attracted public attention B01 for the 125th anniversary celebration in 2009.
