Angelus - Chronograph 1960s

The Swiss watch brand Angelus was founded in 1891 by the Stolz brothers as Stolz Freres SA in Le Locle. The town of Le Locle was one of the most important centers of the Swiss watch industry at the end of the 19th century, where watchmakers like Ulysse Nardin, Charles Tissot, or the founders of Zenith worked.

Angelus became especially famous in the 1840s. The manufacture produced all movements entirely in-house. This made the manufacturer independent of suppliers like Ebauches SA. The chronograph movements stand for particularly high-quality, modern products with Incastar fine adjustment and Incabloc shock protection for the balance staff. A special innovation was the "Chronodate" model from 1942, the world's first serially produced chronograph with calendar function.

The caliber 215 presented here was also completely manufactured by Angelus. 

The Angelus brand has been produced and marketed again since 2015 by the movement manufacturer La Joux-Perret (Citizen Holdings). And that in La Chaux-de-Fonds, very close to the founding place of the Stolz brothers.
