Technically, the Angelus, including the chronograph function, works perfectly and has recently been overhauled: (278°; +8s/d).
The watch shows hardly any signs of wear. There are no deep scratches, dents, etc., the glass is scratch-free.
The Swiss watch brand Angelus was founded in 1891 by the Stolz brothers as Stolz Freres SA in Le Locle. At the end of the 19th century, the town of Le Locle was one of the most important centers of the Swiss watch industry, where watchmakers such as Ulysse Nardin, Charles Tissot and the founders of Zenith worked.
Angelus became particularly famous in the 1940s. The manufactory produced all of the clock movements entirely in-house. This meant that the manufacturer was independent of suppliers such as Ebauches SA. The chronograph movements represent particularly high-quality, modern products with Incastar fine adjustment and Incabloc shock protection for the balance shaft. A special innovation was the “Chronodate” model from 1942, the world’s first serially produced chronograph with a calendar function.
The caliber 215 presented here was also completely manufactured by Angelus.
The Angelus brand has been produced and marketed again by the movement manufacturer La Joux-Perret (Citizen Holdings) since 2015. And this is in La Chaux-de-Fonds, very close to where the Stolz brothers were founded.
